McKinney Flips to UNC

Days after officially visiting North Carolina, Prentice McKinney switched his commitment from Notre Dame to UNC.

"I've officially decided to flip my commitment to the University of North Carolina Tar Heels," McKinney announced late Wednesday night via his personal Twitter account.

McKinney, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound safety from Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff, had been verbally committed to Notre Dame since last March. But he "secretly" officially visited UNC over the weekend.

During the 2014 season, McKinney recorded 89 tackles and five interceptions. Two of his picks were returned for touchdowns. He is ranked the No. 35 safety in the nation by

Larry Porter is the recruiter of record for McKinney. Porter began pursuing McKinney towards the end of the summer.

McKinney's teammate Jamile Johnson was verbally committed to UNC for roughly a month before flipping to Texas.
