As Inside Carolina has previously reported, Dee Liner, a former four-star defensive tackle who spent the past two years at Alabama, is scheduled to officially visit UNC this weekend. Additionally, according to sources, the Tar Heels’ coaching staff will host Vic Wharton, a wide receiver currently enrolled at Tennessee, for an official trip.
Liner, a 6-foot-3, 295-pounder from Muscle Shoals (Ala.), saw the field in each of the past two seasons for Alabama recording three tackles. The soon-to-be junior has a red-shirt season available. Georgia Tech appears to be UNC’s main competitor for Liner’s transfer.
Wharton signed with Tennessee a year ago and then played nine games (two starts) this past season catching five passes for 64 yards and a touchdown. The 5-foot-11, 201-pound Spring Hill (Tenn.) native has already visited California, according to a source.
