Roy Williams Visits Adebayo

PINETOWN, N.C. - Roy Williams traveled to Northside High School on Tuesday afternoon to meet with Edrice "Bam Bam" Adebayo.

The 2016 frontcourt talent has had a UNC scholarship for nearly a year. The meeting on Tuesday, which lasted for a little less than an hour, was a chance for Williams and Adebayo to catch up.

Williams last traveled to see him on Jan. 27.

"He just wanted to touch base and show they still have a strong interest in Bam," said Northside head coach Michael Proctor. "They were going to try and get to our conference tournament, but we had to keep postponing it because of some nasty weather. It kept getting pushed back and eventually it was cancelled, so they couldn't get down here."

Northside, the No. 14 seed in the East, made the regional finals (beating a No. 19, No 3, No. 6 and No 2 seed) before losing to conference foe East Carteret.

"Bam played so well and got hot at the right time for us," Proctor explained. "With the exception of one game, he was averaging something like 35 points and 24 rebounds in the playoffs."

Adebayo is playing AAU this spring with Team Loaded NC, where he is teammates with another UNC target, 2016 offered guard Dennis Smith Jr. Williams visited Smith on Monday.

"He told Bam that they were going to be watching him during the open period (April 10-12 in Dallas)," said Proctor. "He just wanted (to say) that he's a good player who would fit in well at Carolina."
