QB Logan Byrd Commits to UNC

North Carolina landed a commitment from quarterback Logan Byrd on Wednesday evening, according to a source close to the situation.

The 6-3, 238-pound Kathleen (Ga.) Veterans signal caller decommitted from Virginia Tech last month and subsequently took visits to Florida, Arkansas and then UNC a couple weeks ago.

He is UNC's third commitment in the 2016 class, joining N.C. wide receiver Kyran Bowman and Ga. safety Javontay Smith.

"Logan Byrd is a confident passer who has been starting since his freshman season," said Scout.com national recruiting analyst Chad Simmons. "He has a strong arm and has shown the ability to throw with anticipation. More of a pocket passer, but has good pocket awareness, and he has flashed ability to buy time in the pocket. He really studies the game and knows the game. A smart quarterback who plays within himself. Can still refine his mechanics, see the field better, and look off defensive backs. A quarterback with poise, confidence, and maturity."
