Tar Heels Offer Killeya-Jones

Roy Williams met with Sacha Killeya-Jones on Sunday evening and informed the 2016 power forward that he now has a North Carolina scholarship offer.

A couple weeks ago, playing at North Carolina was the last thing on the mind of Sacha Killeya-Jones. After all, he was committed to ACC foe Virginia.

Then came a decommitment, conversations with the UNC staff and three unofficial visits to UNC.

Now, Killeya-Jones has a chance to play college basketball just a few miles from his house.

During a Sunday evening meeting on campus - Killeya-Jones's third trip to the Tar Heel campus in the last week, Roy Williams officially offered a scholarship to the 6-10 class of 2016 forward that plays at Lynchburg (Va.) Virginia Episcopal -- but currently resides in Chapel Hill.

“I like North Carolina as a program because it’s one of the best in the country,” Killeya-Jones told Inside Carolina earlier this week. “There’s a lot to like about Coach Roy and the school.”

Prior to his commitment to Virginia, the Tar Heels showed cursory interest in Killeya-Jones. They watched him during the summer live evaluation periods in 2013 and 2014 with Team Felton, which also features 2017 UNC commitment Jalek Felton, and did view him with his high school team as well.

Killeya-Jones took his first unofficial visit to Chapel Hill last fall during “Late Night with Roy.” He’s ranked the No. 64 player in the class of 2016 by Scout.com and has offers from Florida, Georgetown, Kentucky (which he visited over the weekend), Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Virginia.
