Hopper Coming Home

After spending the past nine years in Georgia, Tyrone Hopper plans to return to his birth state for his college career.

Tyrone Hopper informed Inside Carolina that he verbally committed to North Carolina prior to concluding his camp visit on Monday.

The 6-foot-3, 201-pound linebacker from Roswell (Ga.) selected UNC over scholarship offers from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, Missouri, NC State, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.

A Shelby, N.C. native, Hopper moved to Georgia when he was eight years old.

For Roswell High, Hopper plays both Bandit and WILL linebacker in a 4-2-5 defensive scheme. In that role as a junior, he accumulated 113 tackles, four sacks, and 24 pass breakups.

“He’s athletic, rangey, physical, and he can bend and move real well,” Roswell head coach John Ford said.
