North Carolina continues to expand its 2016 target pool. Jarrett Allen, a 6-foot-10 post player, is the latest to pick up a scholarship offer from the Tar Heels. The Austin (Texas) St. Stephen's Episcopal School standout picked up his UNC offer in a recent phone conversation with Roy Williams.
“[Roy] called me,” Allen said. “He just liked how I played and he thought I was a good fit for North Carolina.”
Allen said he’s hearing a lot from Baylor, Texas, Kansas State, San Diego State, Kansas and Kentucky. Allen also has offers from Notre Dame, Indiana, Florida, UCLA and Oregon.
He took a recent unofficial visit to Texas. He’s previously seen Baylor and Houston’s campuses.
After a strong spring and summer with Texas Pro, Allen moved up to No. 3 on the center list and is regarded as the No. 11 player in the 2016 recruiting class.
