ICTV: Chazz Surratt on the Move
RANDLEMAN, N.C. - He plays two sports and has committed to two schools.
The rivalry between UNC and Duke isn't as deep for quarterback Chazz Surratt as it is for most fans, as he's been committed to both programs. But now that he's settled with the Tar Heels, Surratt said he can focus on new relationships and better his game.
"I grew up a Carolina fan and it opened up my recruitment when North Carolina said the football team wasn't going to get touched with sanctions or penalties," Surratt said while competing at the Shrine Bowl Invitation Camp.
Surratt will join a loaded stable of quarterbacks on the 2016 UNC roster, but he said he's not intimidated by the depth chart.
"There's competition everywhere, overall it makes you better, so I'm fine with coming in with another quarterback. It's a good situation at Carolina for me so I just took it and ran with it," he said.
Surratt said he wants to better his footwork during his last high school football season.
"I can always improve in any way possible, this year I'm going in trying to focus on my feet and just my progression as a quarterback."
His mobility and athleticism were on full display at the Shrine Bowl event where he completed multiple deep passes and showed solid footwork.
