CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- There's now just a week until UNC's 2015 season kicks off against South Carolina and Larry Fedora said the next few days of game prep will be a good progress indicator for his team.
"We've had a couple of days of install so we've had all of the base stuff," Fedora said Wednesday after practice.
"We'll be seven days out tomorrow so we'll find out where we are a little bit, go through the game procedure, all of those types of things."
When asked about the difference between the Tar Heels now and the last time they played South Carolina two years ago, the head coach said they've come a long way.
"We have more pieces of the puzzle put together," Fedora said. "We have some more depth at positions that we didn't have. We've got a little bit more experience than we had then and I think most of our guys feel comfortable. We've got a total defensive scheme change that guys are still learning but those are the major differences."
