CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The Charlotte Sports Foundation (CSF) announced on Wednesday that North Carolina and South Carolina will meet again in a pair of season-opening football games to be played over Labor Day weekend at Bank of America Stadium in 2019 and 2023.
The Tar Heels and Gamecocks open the 2015 season at Bank of America Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 3.
“The continuation of the South Carolina series offers our student-athletes a tremendous opportunity to play once every four years against a regional rival in an NFL stadium,” UNC Athletics Director Bubba Cunningham said in a statement. “This is an outstanding non-conference rivalry game for the state of North Carolina, our fans, and the city of Charlotte, which has always supported the Tar Heels.”
UNC also announced six other football games added to its future schedules. The school will play a home-and-home with Old Dominion in 2017 and 2020 and host FCS opponents The Citadel (2016), James Madison (2016) and Western Carolina (2017-18).
UNC has now completed its schedule through the 2017 season.
