Forty-eight hours at the end of September could have a major impact on the future of North Carolina’s basketball program.
Harry Giles the first freshman to receive a scholarship offer at UNC under Roy Williams and top player in the class of 2016, begins his official visit on Sept. 25.
Joining him? Columbia (S.C.) Hammond’s Seventh Woods, sources close to the situation confirmed to Inside Carolina.
Woods, a 6-2 guard and the No. 34 player in the senior class, will also officially visit Georgetown Sept. 11 and South Carolina Oct. 9, according to Midlands HS Sports.
Since visiting UNC as an eighth grader, Woods has been on Williams’s radar. He’s visited Chapel Hill at least once, each of the last four years. He was the first guard in the class of 2016 – eight others followed – to receive a scholarship offer from the Tar Heels.
“North Carolina has probably been the most loyal school the entire time, and I talk to their coaches a lot,” Woods told Scout recently.
Woods’s last visit to Carolina was in late June with Dennis Smith Jr., a good friend and former AAU teammate who also holds an UNC offer.
