ICTV: Miles, Defense Setting Standard

UNC safety Donnie Miles discusses his standout performance in the opener and the new standard the defense is setting for itself this season.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The North Carolina defense had a solid performance Thursday night but safety Donnie Miles played well above average. The sophomore safety ended the South Carolina game with a total of 12 tackles, including a team-high nine solo stops.

Miles said he attributes his defensive progress to the new scheme and coaches.

"Just believing in what the coaches are preaching to us every day," Miles explained. "Just taking what we've been coached from the practice field day-to-day and taking it into the game."

In terms of how he plans to approach the A&T game, Miles said he and the rest of UNC's defense plan on playing just as hard.

"No matter who we play we have to prepare, you have to respect the game, respect your opponent," he said. "We're not going to change, we're not going to come off of the standard that we have. We're going to go out there and play as hard as we can."
