CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Junior Isaiah Hicks has increased confidence in his abilities going into his junior year. Following a summer developing his craft - including training with NBA veteran David West - he said he's ready for a bigger 2015-16 season.
Roy Williams said players came back to him raving about Hicks's performances in summer pickup games. Harrison Barnes highlighted Hicks as the biggest standout from his September visit to Chapel Hill.
Nate Britt said he's noticed Hicks's improvements throughout the summer.
“Isaiah has been really good," Britt said. "He had to learn the system and figure out how to succeed in our system and I think he’s starting to grasp that a little more.”
Hicks said he was able to play well this summer because he's reached a level of confidence and comfort with the college game.
"I played more comfortably, like I did in high school," Hicks said. "That probably stood out. Shooting more and stuff like that... playing like my normal self.
"I think I'm right where I want (my confidence level) to be now."
His goal for 2015-16?
"Taking the next step - taking a big step."
