CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina's win over Virginia sets up the next two weeks as pivotal Coastal division showdowns.
The Tar Heels have a short week to prepare for Pittsburgh on Thursday and the next week won't get any easier when the Blue Devils come to town.
These three teams are undefeated in conference and tied atop the Coastal.
Inside Carolina's Greg Barnes talked Saturday following the win over the Cavs about how critical the next two games will be in determining the rest of North Carolina's season.
"For the Coastal division you've got Duke and Pitt and UNC, kind of separating themselves from the rest of the pack," Barnes said. "That's what today was built as, can these three teams win the games they need to win to kind of separate themselves? Duke of course got the really big win going on the road against Virginia Tech. But Pitt needed a field goal late to win and North Carolina took care of business against Virginia - three big wins for each of those teams."
UNC is operating on such a quick schedule that the focus moves immediately to Pittsburgh.
"North Carolina has a short week they're not even going to look at film from this game tonight," Barnes said. “They're going to go straight in to Pitt.
"Two really big games coming up for North Carolina. If we talk in ten days and North Carolina has won both of these games they're in the driver's seat for a trip to Charlotte."
