CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Landon Turner's dominant play has been well documented locally for several years, but this season the leader of North Carolina's offensive line has been garnering praise from outside the Kenan Football Center.
On Monday the ACC recognized Turner as the Offensive Lineman of the Week for the third time in 2015. The senior has graded out above 90 percent in six of the UNC's seven games.
Head coach Larry Fedora said he appreciates the recognition because offensive linemen often go unnoticed.
"It's tremendous, they deserve all the recognition they get, especially those guys up front," Fedora said. "Nobody really ever talks about them and unless you're watching the film you really don’t know what those guys do. But you ask Hood or any of those backs or you ask anybody else and they're going to talk about Landon Turner."
True to his leadership qualities, Turner aimed to share the credit.
"I really appreciate it, Coach Kap always says it's an offensive line award and I couldn't agree more," Turner said. "I didn't do that by myself, we didn't get those rushing yards and get those passing yards by myself. A lot of that was my brothers. The offensive line is a group of five guys working together as a unit, it's not necessary one man doing much of anything. We all rely on each other pretty heavily."
