With his cerebral approach and quick initial step, Tomon Fox is leading Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill in tackles for a loss (16) after eight games. He doesn’t arrive at the line-of-scrimmage with a move in mind – the 6-foot-3, 230-pound defensive end responds to how he’s being blocked.
When he runs the arc, Fox dips and rips without losing speed because of his great flexibility. Whether going inside or outside, his hands are constantly moving to prevent O-linemen from latching on and also to disrupt the quarterback’s vision.
Against the run, Fox’s motor doesn’t stop – particularly while inside the tackle box. Using the aforementioned initial step, he fires into his targeted gap frequently before the O-line can compensate.
