CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- As North Carolina prepares for what right now is its biggest game of the season Thursday at Pittsburgh, Gene Chizik said his players are expected to keep their composure.
There are no plans to discuss the magnitude of the game in terms of conference implications and a primetime national television audience.
"When you play at this level then that's what you have to understand is part of the deal, so that's really never even a discussion," said UNC's defensive coordinator. "We always talk about being consistent and doing the things that we're asking you to do and being accountable to everybody on the defense including the players and everybody that's responsible for doing a job. So other than that we don't really talk about all the other stuff."
It's no secret that UNC's defense has undergone major changes from last season to this season and the results are evident. Chizik said he's continued to see progress.
"I just think we've steadily improved, Chizik said. "I think just overall guys have gotten better. Like I said it's important to them so they've put a lot of work into it."
