CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Gene Chizik is preparing for a Duke team that likes to play fast.
The Blue Devils, who average 78 plays per game, are 6-2 after a bizzare loss against Miami. Chizik said even during that game Duke's quick tempo made an impact.
"Their tempo is extremly fast," Chizik said. "They do a great job of that. I think in the MIami game they had 50 plays before halftime. The tempo, they do a great job, so we're going to have to be able to handle that."
Chizik said Duke is able to maintain its quick tempo in part because they're so well coached.
"And they're just great at what they do," Chizik said. "Coach Cutcliffe, going against him when he was at Ole Miss, very sound in everything they do, a very physical team and they're just very rarely in the wrong place. They're very well coached and they just play extremly hard. All the things you really want in your team, they do it."
