The Tar Heels played without starters Marcus Paige and Justin Jackson. Paige broke his right hand on Tuesday and is out 3-4 weeks; Jackson was not feeling well after practice last evening and was held out as a precaution. He is expected to return to practice on Monday.
Carolina shot 61.8 percent from the floor (42-68) and had 33 assists on 42 field goals. Four Tar Heels handed out five or more assists, led by Britt who had nine and Joel Berry II with seven.
Meeks added five blocked shots to go along with his 14 points. Berry II, Isaiah Hicks and freshman Kenny Williams each scored 12 and Theo Pinson added 10. Britt, Berry II, Pinson and Williams combined for 26 assists and seven turnovers.
Zachary Houston was the lone Quaker in double figures with 14 points and added a team-high six assists. Guilford shot 33.3 percent from the floor for the game, including 28.6 percent in the second half.
Carolina led 52-24 at halftime and out-rebounded the Quakers, 47-25.
The Tar Heels open the regular season on November 13 against Temple in the Veterans Day Classic in Annapolis, Md.
