For Upper Marlboro (Md.) Wise, which ended the 2015 season undefeated and with the MAA 4A crown, North Carolina pledge Myles Wolfolk contributed enormously in all three phases – at receiver on offense, at cornerback on defense, and as a returner on special teams. But during his UNC career, the 6-foot-1, 175-pounder will focus solely on DB where his man coverage skills, run support, and ball skills will be paramount.
Wolfolk’s instincts, length, and physicality make him a burdensome coverage defender. He loves to mix it up with a receiver to insure he’s the one who’s in the best position to make a play on the ball.
That physicality extends to run support. Wolfolk loves to barrel down on a ball carrier and deliver a punishing hit – and will even blow up a blocker along the way.
During his high school career, Wolfolk was known more for his receiving skills (he led Wise with 44 catches for 719 yards and 12 touchdowns) and those ball skills certainly translate to defense (team leading seven interceptions).
