UNC-NCSU to Close '16 Season on a Friday

Weekday games against Triangle rivals are two noteworthy dates on UNC's 2016 football schedule.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina will conclude its 2016 regular season schedule at home against N.C. State on the Friday after Thanksgiving, according to a source.

The Tar Heels and Wolfpack will square off in the regular season finale for the third consecutive year and just the sixth time overall.

UNC will also travel to Duke for its lone Thursday night game of the season.

The ACC will release the full conference schedule at 3pm on Tuesday.

The Tar Heels open 2016 in Atlanta against Georgia in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game on Sept. 3. Other nonconference matchups include a trip to Illinois (Sept. 10) and home contests against FCS opponents James Madison (Sept. 17) and The Citadel (Nov. 19).

In ACC play, UNC will host Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech in addition to N.C. State and will travel for road games against Florida State, Miami, Virginia and the Blue Devils.
