ICTV: Scouting UNC LB Commit Dominique Ross

Evaluating senior footage of the UNC commitment.

North Carolina pledge Dominique Ross’s closing speed, awareness, and pursuit were perfect for the Bandit position within Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy’s 50 defense. As such, he contributed greatly to the team’s undefeated 2015 season, which ended with the FHSAA 3A title.

On nearly every play, Ross was asked to attack the line-of-scrimmage. When provided a clear path to the quarterback, he closed quickly.

At the same time, he was aware of what was occurring in the backfield. If the QB got the ball out quickly, Ross used his length and leaping ability to get into the passing lane. But, if the QB handed off to a running back, Ross diverted his path to pursue the run.
