OL Brian Anderson Commits to North Carolina

Alabama center prospect becomes UNC's second 2017 offensive line commitment.

On his first visit since receiving a North Carolina offer, Brian Anderson verbally committed to the Tar Heels on Saturday night at Fedora’s Freak Show.

Anderson, a 6-foot-3, 272-pound offensive lineman from Montgomery (Ala.) Catholic, selected UNC over scholarship offers from more than 30 schools. Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa State, Syracuse, and Wake Forest highlighted that group.

Last November, Anderson first visited UNC during its victory over rival Duke. He returned for a junior day in April. Those experiences privately elevated the Tar Heels to leadership status.

An offer came in May – a week after Chris Kapilovic made an evaluation visit to Montgomery Catholic. During his visit, Kap watched Anderson practice. In particular, Kapilovic focused on Anderson’s snapping ability.

Although he has only played left tackle in games, Anderson is being recruited as a center.

Once offered, Anderson publicly proclaimed UNC his leader. Not wanting to make a knee-jerk commitment, he held off making a decision until the summer. Time obviously didn’t diminish Anderson’s feelings towards the Tar Heels.

Anderson is UNC’s ninth verbal commitment and second O-line pledge for the 2017 recruiting class.
