UNC Commitment Q&A: Caleb Rozar

After leaving Kenan Stadium following Saturday's Freak Show, Caleb Rozar went into the football office and committed. The Tenn. defensive back then talked to Inside Carolina about his decision.

Caleb Rozar Q&A

Once the field cleared on Saturday, what happened?

“I went up [to the football office] to talk to Coach [Charlton] Warren. He talked about how my performance was and how he really liked me at the camp.

“I kind of just went with what I wanted to do before. I told Coach Warren I wanted to commit. And then Coach [Larry] Fedora came out the door. He was all happy. I told him, ‘I’m Caleb Rozar and I’m a Tar Heel.’ Coach [Gene] Chizik was out there, too, and they all congratulated me.”

In talking to you immediately after the Freak Show, you were torn between UNC and Wake Forest. What changed?

“After talking to talk Coach Warren, I just felt like this was where I wanted to be. I felt comfortable.

“I think that Coach Warren will use me at corner even better. And they use a whole bunch of DBs; they played five or six DBs, so that will give me an opportunity to play early.”

How firm is this commitment? Are you finished taking visits?

“It’s firm. I’m done with visits.”

When’s the next time you’ll be back at UNC?

“I’m not even sure – probably my official. I’d like to go to a game.”

You previously visited UNC for a junior day. How different was this visit?

“I got to see the different techniques they use. I just got to live it how they do it in practice and how the DBs do it in games. I got a little taste of how Coach Warren coaches.”

What type of coach is Warren?

“He’s a good coach – a good, aggressive coach. He’s going to help you.”

What time did you arrive on campus on Saturday?

“My coach and I got there around 2.”

What did you do in the four hours before the Freak Show?

“I hung out in the players’ lounge. I didn’t tour, because I had already seen everything on the junior day. I hung out with other recruits. The only player I hung out with was Rontavius Groves, because I already knew him.”

Sum up the Freak Show experience.

“It’s nothing but top guys. You’re just going up against top guys. At other camps, you might go up against some regular guys who aren’t getting any looks. This is their top priority guys and that helps you get better. I feel like I got better today. I went up against top receivers.

“I really liked it. It was amazing.”

How do you feel like you fared today?

“I think I did pretty good. I feel like I competed well. I know I have a lot of stuff I have to work on, though. But I was aggressive at the line and used my length well.”
