Nate Watson Planning UNC Visit

Rugged post player is being recruited by Hubert Davis.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Nate Watson continues to hear from North Carolina on a near daily basis.

"UNC, they're heavily interested in me," said Watson, a 6-9, 250-pound rising senior from Arlington (Va.) Bishop O'Connell

"It's going good. Hubert Davis texts me every day. We keep in contact."

The latest communication with Watson and North Carolina is focused on relationship building and evaluation, as the big man is intrigued by what the school has to offer.

"They're just feeling me out right now. They want to see me more in July," Watson said. "I really think I would be a really good player and I would contribute well to their program."

"I feel pretty good about them. They're in the ACC. Really good school. It would be a good fit as well."

Watson said he is planning to take a trip to the state of North Carolina in August or during the beginning of his senior year for unofficial visits to UNC, Wake Forest and N.C. State. For the UNC visit, Watson wants to personally evaluate certain things.

"I just want to see the basketball program, the education system, the campus and just get a feel for the coaches," Watson said.

Besides the Tar Heels, Watson said that he already has plans to take an official visit to Miami in August. The Hurricanes are one of several recruiting him the hardest.

"Kansas, Miami, Xavier and Providence are recruiting me pretty hard," Watson said.

When looking for his future school, Watson is trying to check off a few things that he's looking at when he takes a visit to campuses.

"Having a good relationship with the coach, the campus, the area that it's in, the players, how many players they recruit over me," Watson said.

This spring, Watson ran in the Under Armour Association with D.C. Premier, as he played in 12 games and averaged 14.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 62 percent from the floor. He also was a solid contributor at last week's NBPA Top 100 Camp.
