The Brooklyn Nets selected Marcus Paige with the No. 55 overall pick of the NBA Draft on Thursday and promptly traded the All-American combo guard to the Utah Jazz.
Utah received Paige and financial considerations from Brooklyn for the draft rights to Seton Hall's Isaiah Whitehead (42nd overall pick).
Paige averaged 12.6 points and 3.8 assists during his senior season. The Marion, Iowa native elevated his play in the NCAA Tournament, shooting 48.8 percent from 3-point range and connecting on a school-record 20 3-pointers. His 39 career 3-pointers in NCAA Tournament play are the most ever by a Tar Heel.
Paige ranks third in school history in steals (203), eighth in assists (602) and 11th in points (1,844). He is one of four Tar Heels with 1,500 career points and 500 career assists, joining Phil Ford, Jeff Lebo and Kenny Smith.
