Goddard's coach: ‘It's not true'

Inside Carolina spoke to Roanoke (Robersonville) head football coach Donald Keefer on Thursday. He responded to a report that defensive back Trimane Goddard [pictured] may be ready to pull the trigger on his decision.

"It's not true; I don't know where they got that," an astonished Keefer said. "Trimane and I talk everyday."

Keefer said that Goddard's choices are narrowed down, but said without any doubt that there is no imminent decision on the way.

"Before any kind of decision is made, we want to go to Tennessee – I want him to see a game over there," Keefer said. "Then we're going to go to a game at Georgia and then to a game at Florida State."

So in actuality, considering the season starts this week, Goddard's announcement is at least weeks away, and maybe months, right?

"That's right," Keefer said.

Roanoke opens the 2003 season Friday against Columbus.
