North Carolina offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic has added another piece to his 2017 offensive line class. Literally just prior to the official start of his senior football season, Billy Ross announced his commitment to the Tar Heels on Sunday night.
Minutes before Huntington (W.Va.) High’s midnight practice, which officially opens the 2016 football season, Ross made his declaration. In selecting UNC, the 6-foot-5, 292-pound offensive tackle spurned scholarship offers from Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi State, NC State, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, among others.
In mid-June, Ross trimmed his list of suitors to Florida, Florida State, Marshall, Mississippi State, UNC, Tennessee, and Virginia. That list was further streamlined to FSU, Marshall, UNC, and Tennessee three weeks later.
In between the two aforementioned cuts, Ross attended Fedora’s Freak Show. Immediately afterwards, he named UNC his leader.
Besides the Freak Show, Ross visited UNC in February, attended the Tar Heels’ spring game in April, and lastly made a clandestine visit earlier this month.
