Before a knee injury ended his night prematurely, North Carolina pledge Tyler Smith returned a punt 55 yards for a touchdown and caught a couple of passes.
While returning a third quarter punt, Smith went down -- untouched -- with a right knee injury. The 5-foot-10, 171-pound wide receiver watched the remainder of the game from the sidelines as Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern suffered its first loss of the season to nationally ranked Loganville (Ga.) Grayson, 16-13.
A year ago, Smith tore the ACL in his left knee, which abruptly ended his junior season. Though fully healed, he is still shaking off the rust from that injury.
