CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Kanler Coker's Tar Heel journey will conclude this coming season on the hardwood - on scholarship.
He has been given a basketball scholarship for the 2016-17 season.
Coker's UNC career began at quarterback, as part of Larry Fedora's first incoming recruiting class in Chapel Hill. The Gainesville, Ga. native played two years with the football team - appearing in three games - until an elbow injury ended his football career, but not his athletic career.
As a former high school basketball standout, he opted to join the UNC basketball team, appearing in 13 games last season as a walk-on.
His dedication and passion for the game and his team, Coker says, is one of the key factors in the coaching staff's decision to award him a scholarship for his final season.
