Dominique Green's Quiet Productivity for UNC

The senior safety's important role amid the recent emergence of freshman defensive backs.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - You likely haven't heard Dominique Green's mentioned much this season. But that's certainly not indicative of the impact the senior safety has had on the North Carolina defense this season.

Defensive coordinator Gene Chizik referred to him this week as "quietly one of the most productive guys we've got in a lot of ways."

Green's fourth on the team in tackles (45), while his leadership, intelligence and versatility have earned Chizik's praise.

According to Green, that defensive productivity is a result of his "workaholic' mentality, ensuring that no one outworks him in the weight room, film room or practice field.

His steady play has been combined with increased contributions from freshmen like Myles Dorn, which has given Green a valuable breather, while also providing Chizik with more coverage and personnel options.
