In its regular season finale, Huntington (W.Va.) High defeated Beckley (W.Va.) Wilson, 38-14, thanks in large part to a rushing attack that found the end zone four times. The offensive line that cleared the way for that rushing attack was anchored by North Carolina pledge Billy Ross.
Playing right tackle, Ross, a 6-foot-5, 292-pounder, helped Huntington average over 7.5 yards per rush. Additionally, he provided his quarterback time to complete six of his eight passes.
Also thanks to Ross and his offensive line mates, junior tailback Jadon Hayes set the Huntington High season record for rushing attempts (242) and rushing yards (1,397) that night.
