Crowd Becomes UNC's 6th Man in Greensboro

Tar Heel fans brought the energy and noise to the Greensboro Coliseum on Sunday.

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Roy Williams did not want to leave Chapel Hill to face off against No. 20 Notre Dame.

"Playing here in Greensboro I was really mad. Period, the end," Williams said after UNC's Sunday afternoon victory. "I wanted to play in the Smith Center."

But the Tar Heel fans packed the Greensboro Coliseum and and provided an atmosphere that rivaled - if not surpassed - a big night at the Smith Center.

"It's the 6th man," Joel Berry said of the crowd. "I think they were able to be that for us today."

Added Williams: “The people here today, I’m thrilled ... I wish I could say thank you to every single one of them because they were important to us winning the game.”
