UNC, Appalachian State Agree To Football Series

The two programs haven't met on the gridiron since 1940.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina and Appalachian State have agreed to a three-game football series to be played in 2019, 2022 and 2023.

Carolina will host the Mountaineers on Saturday, September 21, in 2019 at Kenan Stadium in Chapel HIll. In 2022, UNC will play for the first time in Boone, N.C., on September 3 at Kidd Brewer Stadium on the ASU campus. The following year, the Tar Heels will play host to Appalachian State on September 9, 2023, in Chapel Hill.

The only previous meeting between the Tar Heels and Mountaineers was a 56-6 UNC win in 1940 in Chapel Hill.
