CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Nathan Elliott, Chazz Surratt, and Logan Byrd stepped onto Navy Field Tuesday afternoon, beginning the competition for the North Carolina starting quarterback position.
With the departure of last season's starter, Mitch Trubisky, the Tar Heels are starting from square one. All three guys are receiving equal reps, per head coach Larry Fedora, until someone separates from the rest.
"They're all starting at the same level, they all know they can win the job," Fedora said. "They're going to compete. I kind of think it's exciting for them, because they know they could be the starting quarterback next year."
