BROOKLYN --- Nineteen years ago, unanimous National Player of the Year Antawn Jamison was leading North Carolina to back-to-back Final Four appearances. The former NBA All-Star, who was honored as an ACC Legend this weekend in Brooklyn, offered his insights on the Tar Heels as they prepare to open NCAA Tournament play on Friday.
“A lot of these guys have played together for a while,” Jamison said. “You’ve got so many guys that were on the team last year that lost in the finals, so the chemistry, I think, is unbelievable.”
Jamison, who currently works as a NBA analyst, averaged 22.2 points and 10.5 rebounds in his junior year at UNC in 1997-98, becoming the third player in ACC to be named ACC Player of the Year, ACC Tournament MVP, NCAA Regional MVP and National Player of the Year in the same season.
