UNC Basketball Commitments Jalek Felton and Coby White Receive State POY Honors

Two future members of the Tar Heel backcourt earned the prestigious Gatorade awards

The postseason honors for 2017 UNC signee Jalek Felton and 2018 commitment Coby White are starting to stack up.

Both were named player of the year in their respective conferences, and both were selected to all-regional teams in their state.

On Monday, Gatorade announced Felton, from West Columbia (S.C.) Gray Collegiate, as its South Carolina Player of the Year, and White, from Greenfield (N.C.) Wilson, as its North Carolina Player of the Year.

This season, Felton averaged 26.3 points, 5.4 assists, 5.5 rebounds per game while taking Gray to the state semifinals. He scored a season-high 50 points on Feb. 9, and poured in 30 or more points eight times in his final high school season. Felton will play in the Jordan Brand Classic, along with 2017 UNC target Kevin Knox, in April.

White's 1,069 points as a junior are the most in school, conference and North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISSA) history. The 6-4 guard scored 30 or more points 18 times this season.
