ICTV: Party Time On Franklin Street

Tar Heel fans take over downtown Chapel Hill to celebrate the basketball team's 2017 NCAA championship.

A year ago on the first Monday night in April downtown Chapel Hill could have been mistaken for a wake following the 2016 Tar Heel basketball team's heartbreaking last-second loss to the Villanova Wildcats in the NCAA Tournament.  Fans consoled each other over the disappointment.

When the Gonzaga Bulldogs took a 65-63 lead with a little over a minute to play it looked possible for a repeat performance, but the Tar Heels bowed their backs and rose to the challenge, scoring the game's final eight points to secure UNC's seventh national title, sixth NCAA Tournament title, and Roy Williams's third title.  As the feeling washed over those in downtown Chapel Hill, Tar Heel fans rushed Franklin Street for a night of celebration.
