North Carolina running back Elijah Hood was drafted with the No. 24 pick (242nd overall) in the seventh round by the Oakland Raiders in the NFL Draft on Saturday.
Hood, who was Larry Fedora’s first five-start recruit at UNC, elected to enter the draft after a junior season plagued by injury. The Charlotte, N.C. product rushed for a team-high 858 yards and eight touchdowns on 145 carries in 2016. The bruising back with a quick initial burst averaged 6.0 yards per carry during his Tar Heel career.
Hood delivered one of the best running back seasons in UNC history in 2015, churning out 1,463 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns en route to earning first-team All-ACC honors. He is a two-time All-ACC Academic Team honoree and ranks ninth in school history in career rushing yards (2,580) and sixth in school history in career rushing touchdowns (29).
