Javon Terry Commits to North Carolina

In-state safety made his decision on Saturday night.

When the Freak Show concluded on Saturday night, Javon Terry was ready to make his decision.

The Wake Forest (N.C.) High safety gave North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora his commitment at the conclusion of the event.

Terry chose the Tar Heels over in-state programs N.C. State, Wake Forest and East Carolina.

During the 2016 season, Terry rotated throughout Wake Forest High's secondary lining up at cornerback, safety, and nickel back. In that role, he collected four interceptions, seven pass break-ups, and 52 tackles.

"Javon is definitely a Division I athlete, especially with his size, his speed, [and] athletic ability," Wake Forest head coach Reggie Lucas said. "More so than that, he's changed from linebacker to defensive back and he hasn't missed a beat. I think his knowledge of the game is definitely increasing, but when he completely figures it out, it's only going to make him better because of his athletic ability. He's running a 4.4 [in the 40-yard dash] and he's going to be a 6-2/6-3 kid before he graduates."
