Buckman prepares for final visit

One week removed from his official visit to Chapel Hill, 6-9 Brad Buckman from Austin (TX) Westlake comments on where he stands heading into the final visit -- including news that it is now a two-horse race.

The list has been whittled down to two.

Buckman told IC's David Thompson on Thursday night that Kansas is out of the running.

"I don't think they're in it anymore," he said.

So, the Jayhawks join UCLA, which Buckman dropped off his list two weeks ago, and now only two schools remain.

Buckman had nothing but positive comments after his official visit last weekend to North Carolina. "It really couldn't have been better," he told IC on Sunday night. "That was awesome. It was really cool. No flaws." (Carolina visit has HUGE impact on Buckman).

"[My parents] liked it a lot," Buckman said last night. "My mom smiled the whole time. My dad acted like he enjoyed it too. It felt like it was fine for me to go there."

Buckman indicated on Sunday that his trip to Chapel Hill might have vaulted the Tar Heels into the lead. But one very important official visit remains.

Today, the coveted power forward embarks on his final campus trip – a short ride over to hometown University of Texas.

"I'm really not for sure on North Carolina right now," Buckman said. "I'm just going to take the visit and see how it goes."

The visit will conclude on Sunday, followed by some time to mull over a decision.

"[I'm going to] take this visit and take a couple of weeks to decide, looking over my trip [to Texas] and then decide," he said.
