Georgia Tech and N.C. State have both received commitments.
Theodis Tarver, a 6-9, 210-pound PF/C from Monroe (LA) Carroll completes a terrific trio for head coach Paul Hewitt. Highly-ranked prospects PF Chris Bosh and PG Jarrett Jack committed to the Jackets within the past few weeks.
"Tarver is an athletic kid with wide shoulders and is very active on the defensive end and working the glass," writes Phog.net guru Eric Bossi. "He didn't get the ball much on offense but looks like he has a nice arsenal of low post moves and a soft touch."
PrepStars.com's Brick Oettinger ranks Tarver as the Class of 2002's No. 17 center and Brick places him No. 110 overall. He chose Tech over hometown favorite LSU.
Adam Simons, a 7-0, 210-pound center from Burlington (NC) Williams gave a verbal commitment to N.C. State, choosing the Wolfpack over Richmond. He is the son of Elon basketball coach Mark Simons and the stepson of Duke women's basketball coach Gail Goestenkors
Oettinger ranks Simons the No. 31 center in the Class of 2002, and does not include him in the Top 200.
Reports that the Tar Heels were recruiting Simons are incorrect. He was on campus in Chapel Hill recently to play pickup.
