Heels impress Foster on visit

The University of North Carolina entertained one of the top wide receivers in South Carolina during an unofficial visit for the football game against Arizona State.

Brooks Foster came to Chapel Hill with a verbal offer to join the Tar Heels but left with it in writing.

"It was a great visit. I had the chance to speak with Coach [John] Bunting. He told me that they [UNC] really wanted me up here," said Foster, a 6-1, 180-pound wideout from Boiling Springs, S.C. "I want to play football and basketball in college. I also was able to talk to Coach [Roy] Williams and he said that I would have a chance to play basketball as well."

So which sport does Foster like the most?

"Basketball is my favorite sport," he said. "I probably am better at playing football because my size seems more suited to football. I think that if I can go to a school and work out with the basketball coaching staff then I could become a really good basketball player."

Foster's favorite schools are Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Clemson, and Wake Forest. All his favorites have offered and some other schools such as Duke and Vanderbilt have also offered him a scholarship.

"I don't have one favorite but North Carolina is definitely in among the top of my favorites," he said.

Foster is looking to major in either Business or Computer Science in college. He is looking for a school with a good atmosphere as well as the opportunity to play both sports. All of Foster's favorites have told him that he would be given the opportunity to play both football and basketball.

He has taken one official visit to Kentucky. He met the football coach and coach Tubby Smith, the basketball coach. He plans to take the remainder of his visits in December and January with a decision being made close to signing day.
