Heels Lead for Florida WR

Some say that Del Roberts may be pound-for-pound the best player in Florida. He has offers from across the country that include North Carolina, Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Toledo, Syracuse, and others. Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby is having an off year (4-4) by their lofty standards, but Roberts is holding up his end by grabbing 44 passes for over 700 yards and seven touchdowns. He has also returned one punt for a score.

Roberts has been keeping an eye on the Tar Heels this season.

"They are my leaders followed by Iowa and Iowa State," Roberts said.

"They have a player there that plays similar to me (Jarwarski Pollock)," the 5-9, 170-pound wideout continued. "I see all those freshmen wide receivers playing in their first year and I know that if I work hard that I could have a chance to play early too."

Roberts wants to major in Sports Management and thinks that Carolina offers what he is looking for academically as well as athletically.

"I look forward to going on my official visit to North Carolina," he said. "I have never been to Chapel Hill before. My plan is to take all my official visits before committing but I could see myself committing to Carolina during my official visit if everything goes well. I'm working out my visit date to Carolina. It should be in December or January."

One important aspect in choosing a school for Roberts is location.

"I don't want to move too far away from home."

UNC wide receivers coach Gunter Brewer is Roberts' primary recruiter. He has talked to Coach Brewer on the phone, but has not talked to head coach John Bunting yet.
