Thompson Still Undecided?

In April, Jeremy Thompson verbally committed to Wake Forest. Since then, Thompson has said he remains committed to Wake but still wants to look around. What's the latest with the talented defensive end from Charlotte?

Charlotte Christian and star defensive end Jeremy Thompson finished their 2003 campaign with a loss this past Friday -- and now Thompson can look forward to a future in college football.

"We finished the season last Friday in the playoffs," said a well-spoken Thompson. "The season went pretty well. We won five straight during the season and tied for first in the conference."

While Thompson did not know his exact stats, he estimated he had around 16 sacks and 50 tackles. Not bad for an injured player. "Most of the season I was down with a sprained ankle so I guess I played well for my situation," he said.

Now that Thompson's season has come to a close, he is ready to begin workouts to get ready for the next level. "I'm going to work on my speed and get bigger, work on my size and strength, but mostly my speed," he said. Thompson currently runs a 4.65 40-yard dash.

Anyone who sees Thompson in person or on film knows that he will be a D-I college player, but the question still remains: where? "I'm still committed to Wake Forest, but it's really between Wake and North Carolina still," he said. "I took an unofficial visit to see the [UNC-Wake Forest] game this weekend."

Thompson plans to have his college plans officially ironed out after his official visits to Wake and Carolina. Thompson will visit Wake on the 5th of December and North Carolina on January 9th.

Wake Forest is recruiting Thompson as a defensive end while UNC is recruiting him at defensive end and tight end. What position would Thompson like to play in college? "Defensive end," Thompson said.
