Thomas enjoys official visit to UNC

Quentin Thomas had some questions leading up to his official visit this past weekend to Chapel Hill. After it, that was normal – with the Oakland Tech (Calif.) 6-3 point guard committing to the Tar Heels without ever checking out the campus.

However, after 48 hours in Chapel Hill, Thomas had plenty of answers. Enough, in fact, for him to return to the west coast oozing with confidence that he made the right choice.

"I'm real comfortable with the commitment after taking the trip," Thomas said. "After the visit, all my questions were answered."

Thomas departed Oakland on Friday and after a connecting flight to Phoenix, he got into Chapel Hill in the afternoon.

"I was excited to get there, but it was cold," he said.

Sean May was Thomas' host and shortly after hitting the staff office, he went to a class with freshman Reyshawn Terry, met with a professor and then went on a tour of the campus with some of the players.

Then it was off to see The Matrix with May, Terry, Jackie Manuel and fellow commit JamesOn Curry.

On Saturday, it was a chance to see UNC football and then the exhibition basketball game.

"It was a great turnout for an exhibition game," Thomas said. "It was just real exciting for me to be in the gym."

After taking in the game, it was off to dinner with May and assistant coach Steve Robinson. He hung out with some of the players later that night before departing back home the next morning.

"I left real tired, but it was worth it," he added. "The best part was just hanging with the players."
