New name sets UNC visit

Antonio Sims is a name that has seamlessly found its way off of every recruiting web site. One "prominent" recruiting database doesn't even include the 6-1 190-pound pure athlete. However, the people "that matter," recruiters, are in a fierce competition for a signature from the Georgia native come Signing Day.

"North Carolina, North Carolina State, Kentucky, Louisville, Illinois, and LSU have offered with Georgia about to offer," stated Sims, who plays quarterback, running back and cornerback for Hiram High School (Hiram, Ga.) but is being recruited by the Tar Heels as a cornerback with the possibility of some offensive or return opportunities.

The constant contact from assistant coaches Jim Fleming and Gunter Brewer have the Tar Heels set up with Sims' lone official visit (January 16th), in addition with placing UNC among the favorites of this do-everything star that has over 1,600 total yards, 12 touchdowns, 2 interceptions and 31 tackles.

"I set up one (official visit) with North Carolina on January 16th and I'm going to set one up with Georgia probably January 9th," Sims said. "Right now I'm going to have to say North Carolina, Georgia and LSU are my three favorites in no particular order."

The most surprising thing is that Sims's recruitment might end before most recruiting followers would have noticed that it had began.

"Probably within the next three-four weeks," remarked Sims. "I'm going to sit down and talk to family, and then I'm going to go from there."

Sims has never been discouraged from the lack of press he has received or his high school's 3-7 record his senior season. He said he realizes that his time in the spotlight will come once makes his debut at the next level.
