Signs point to UNC for Roberts

Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby's Del Roberts will take his official visit to North Carolina in January and the Tar Heels are in prime position to land the talented wide receiver.

Florida St has dropped off the radar of Tallahassee Godby WR Del Roberts. The 'Noles aren't recruiting him anymore.

North Carolina (official visit - 1/16) now holds a solid lead over Iowa (unset Jan. official trip), Iowa State, Syracuse and Mississippi St. All have offered except the Bulldogs.

"I think January will be a good time for me to visit UNC because I've been really busy this month," Roberts said. "Also, that's the weekend they play UCONN in basketball and that should be a great game.

"I think I'd be able to go in there and play right away. They like playing young players and hopefully I'll be one of them.

"I want to go somewhere that's close to home and where I could fit in well. I think UNC has everything I want.

"I was supposed to visit Iowa in Dec but had to re-schedule. I decided not to take any of my visits in December."

ISU is recruiting Roberts the hardest, he said.

"They call me a lot and told me they really enjoy my tapes and think I could play early for them."
