Firestone to decide by this weekend

Ian Firestone, a speedy wide receiver from Pennsylvannia has great visit this past weekend at UNC. Inside Carolina caught up with Firestone who gave us this report.

Ian Firestone (6-2, 190, 4.35, PA) - Last year Firestone had 43 receptions for 550 yards and 7 touchdowns. On kick returns he averaged 44 yards per return. Ian intends to major in business and academics are very important to him. Inside Carolina talked with Ian Firestone following his visit to Chapel Hill over the weekend. Ian described his visit as "awesome' and that he "loved every minute of it".

Ian drove from Pennsylvania after his game Friday night (wanted to avoid the airport after events of 9/11 and subsequent enhanced security measures) and arrived in Chapel Hill Saturday morning at about 8:30.

He was given a tour of campus and shown around town. He also had the opportunity to talk to an academic counselor about the Business School at Carolina. He went to the Virginia/UNC game and sat beside RS LB Doug Justice.

He described the game as awesome. That night he went out on the town with Kory Bailey and had a great time. On Sunday Morning, he had breakfast with Coach Bunting. He also spent time with his position coach (Coach Brewer) and the recruiting coordinator (Coach Browning).

Coach Connors talked with Ian about how he trains each individual according to the specific position they play. Ian said it is basically down to UNC and Boston College with the teams even.

He wants to spend time talking to his parents and he thinks that he will come to a decision later on this week or weekend. Inside Carolina will be in touch to monitor Ian's decision.
