Roberts Close to Committing

As the in-home visits continue, the Tar Heels' coaching staff made a stop in Tallahassee, FL last Friday to visit three-star wide receiver Del Roberts of Godby High School.

Assistant coach Gunter Brewer, the lone UNC representative, conveyed the benefits of becoming a Tar Heel, plus wanted to ensure North Carolina's lead for the 5-8, 170-pound playmaker.

"(Coach Brewer) talked about what North Carolina is all about, what they expect out of all their players, and how they run things in Carolina," stated Roberts describing the in-home visits.

"I think, as well as Coach Brewer, I can come in and be an impact on special teams, punt return and kick return, and receiver also. Plus, I definitely like the location, the coaching staff, and I noticed that they like to play a lot of young players."

Despite Roberts being a huge UNC lean, he has set up visits to Iowa on December 19th and Syracuse on January 23rd, on top of his Chapel Hill visit on January 16th. If Chapel Hill is all that he expected and more, a commitment could soon follow.

"I been thinking pretty hard about (committing to UNC), but I'm probably going to wait till after the visit," Roberts said. "UNC is who I'm leaning to, so if I like the visit a lot, I'm going to go ahead and (commit) then."

Godby High School went 5-5 during the regular season and survived until the second round of the playoffs. Roberts had an impressive 59 catches for 1,053 yards and nine touchdowns while facing double and triple team coverage.
